What Is Calcium Silicate Board? Properties, Grades and Uses

Calcium silicate board is a rigid, non-asbestos thermal insulation material based on xonotlite (6CaO·6SiO2·H2O). It combines low thermal conductivity, high mechanical strength and excellent fire resistance.

Composition

The board is manufactured from siliceous and calcareous raw materials with reinforcing fibres, then autoclaved into a stable crystalline structure.

Density grades

  1. Low density 250-650 kg/m3 for thermal insulation
  2. High density 800-1200 kg/m3 for structural and load-bearing use

Key properties

  1. Service temperature up to 1100 C depending on grade
  2. Low thermal conductivity
  3. Non-combustible, non-asbestos
  4. Machinable - cut, drilled and CNC shaped
